International Initiatives

ETV Canada is cooperating with the European Commission in support of their efforts to establish an environmental technology verification program. A recent workshop was held (Feb. 2005) in Brussels.

ETV Canada is continuing to cooperate with the United States EPA ETV Program. ETV Canada participated in an international workshop in Washington D.C. (July 2005).

A first stage Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed with the Republic of South Korea to provide the basis for collaboration and eventual reciprocity with ETV Canada.

ETV Canada and OCETA completed Phase I of a Canadian International Development Agency-funded project to assist China's State Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA) to develop an ETV program.

ETV Canada carried out a CIDA-funded, CANORA-lead project to assist Indonesia's Environmental Impact Assessment Management Agency (BAPEDAL) in a national consultation process and the identification of program options.

OCETA and ETV Canada developed the Environmental Technology Verification Arsenic Mitigation Program (ETV-AM). This is a $3.8 million, 30-month capacity building project funded by Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) to assess and verify arsenic mitigation technologies for treating contaminated, rural drinking water. The water treatment technologies currently being field-tested in Bangladesh, and the large number being proposed will be subject to a rigorous verification process.
